What's going on everybody? I'm Alex with americanmuscle.com. Today I am bringing you my detailed review and breakdown of the SR Performance Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft, fitting all 2005 through 2010 Mustang GTs. So, if you're unfamiliar with the '05 through '10 driveshaft, you're gonna be looking at a fairly heavy two piece construction. Something that while it's suitable for your occasional romp around town and your daily commute, it's not something that's really geared towards performance, if you're looking to run your car at the track, more often than not.So the SR Performance Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft is gonna be a great option for any '05 through '10 GT owner out there, that's looking to shed some serious weight from their driveline, as well as strengthening your components, as the factory two piece has more connection points. Thus it's gonna be more likely to fail, especially if you find yourself dumping your clutch a lot. This aluminum one piece driveshaft is not only gonna be great from a weight savings perspective, as you're gonna be cutting down on that rotational mass, which in turn on the streets or track for you, is gonna mean that you're gonna have better acceleration off the line. You might even see improved 60-foot times. Now, additionally for my S197 owners out there that know their Mustang from front to back, one of the best aspects about a one-piece in comparison to a two-piece driveshaft is that you're gonna be getting away from that very annoying clunk that you have when you have when you're dropping gears. And it's a great way to still reap the benefits of a lightweight driveshaft and alleviate that. But before I get a little bit too ahead of myself here guys, I wanna throw it out there, that in terms of getting this on your car, you're gonna be looking at a light to a moderate, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here. And about a two-hour job, but I'm gonna have a little bit more coming up for you on that later. And this driveshaft is gonna be a slightly more affordable option than some of the offerings that we have on site from the driveshaft shop. And in my opinion, it's definitely a bargain. But looking around you're gonna see that there is a carbon fiber option out there. That's gonna be geared towards someone that doesn't really have a problem spending money on those precious materials. And for someone that needs to lose that much weight, as that's gonna come in line at around 17 pounds versus the 27 pounds that we're working with here today, in comparison to the factory's 46-pound driveshaft. So, if you are asking yourself how that's gonna transmit to real world conditions, you're not gonna be making your engine work as hard, your car is just gonna feel that much better, it's gonna rev more freely, and accelerate that much more spiritedly. But on-road benefits aside here guys, we're gonna see that this is gonna be manufactured out a very lightweight but durable 60-61 T6 aluminum, that's gonna be in a three and a half inch diameter as well as featuring universal joints. And additionally, we'll see that this is gonna have 1350 series flange yolks up front and rear, so that when it comes time to install this you're not gonna have to pick up any type of adapters to get it in. But in terms of what this is gonna do to your wallet folks, you should expect to be spending about 700 bucks to get into this one piece, which will make this one of the most affordable options on the website, at the time of shooting this video. And for the money in comparison to the driveshaft shop's one piece, that's gonna be a difference of about 60 bucks, you're still gonna be getting that same T6 aluminum construction, but your real difference there is gonna be that the DSS is gonna come in at slightly less weight. But switching gears to the installation portion of the video, like I said up top guys, you're looking at a pretty light to a moderate one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here, and about a two-hour job. Now, looking ahead this is definitely gonna be something that's gonna require the entire toolbox, we're talking a full socket set, full hex key set, mallet, breaker bar, thread locker and a couple of other odds and ends. So, to begin here you wanna get that Mustang off the ground either on a lift, if you don't have access to one, a couple solid jack stands will do just fine. So, you're gonna wanna begin by removing the six bolts that are holding the driveshaft onto the rear pinion flange. After that, you can then remove the four bolts that are gonna be holding the drive shaft onto the back of the trans housing. After that, you're gonna wanna remove your tunnel brace via the two bolts, along with the safety loop. So, once that's done guys, it's more or less just gonna be getting your new SR Performance Driveshaft in place, torquing everything back down to spec. And that's gonna conclude my review and breakdown of the SR Performance Aluminum One Piece Driveshaft, fitting all 2005 through 2010 Mustang GT's. Available right here at americanmuscle.com.
