This is a Barton Short Throw Shifter with a round handle for the 2005 to 2010 GTs equipped with the TR-3650. You're gonna wanna check out this shifter if you're looking for a short throw shifter upgrade that keeps a stock-like shifter handle, reuses stock shift knob for a stock look, and if you don't mind paying for the quality and the fitment that Barton delivers with its products. The install for this shifter is gonna be a one outta three wrenches in the difficulty meter. You can plan on spending about an hour getting this installed. This shifter offers a 36% reduction in throw, which is right up there with most of the other short throw shifter options but a little bit below. Most of your other options out there are giving you a 40% reduction in throw. But I honestly don't think that you guys are gonna notice the 4% difference here, especially when we're talking about this much difference over the stock shifter. A shorter throw means a shorter length between each gear that your shifter and handle have to travel. The thought here is that the shorter distance means faster shifts and better performance. But other than performance, you're also gonna get a totally different feel altogether. This different feel isn't just from the throw reduction, but it's also gonna be from the entire shifter, its construction, the throw reduction, and its bushings. This shifter is completely made from billet aluminum and stainless steel. Now it's typical to see an aftermarket shifter like this made from CNC machined aluminum where you usually see steel instead of stainless steel. This is a solid piece and it has harder poly bushings that aren't gonna allow for as much movement in the shifter. They're also more durable than the stock rubber bushings are. This is gonna give you a more solid feeling, shorter action than the stock shifter can give you. You do have some options when it comes to bushings and short throw shifters. You can go with the spherical bearing or a harder durometer poly bushing like you see in the shifter here. This is a complete kit in a sense that you're gonna get your shifter and the OEM style shift handle. You will reuse your stock shift knob or you can pick one up with the stock 12 x 1.25 thread pattern if you wanted to. When it comes to price, you can expect to pay, right about the $280 mark. This isn't your most expensive option, but there are other more affordable options out there like the SR Performance option or the Hurst Competition Plus Shifter. But the Barton here is known for its quality and fitment. So you know you're getting a good product with this shifter. But if this is a bit too pricey for you, you do have a handful of other options that you can always check out instead. As far as the install goes, this is gonna be a one outta three wrenches in the difficulty meter. You can plan on spending about an hour getting this installed. You will need a socket set to complete this install, as well as a screwdriver, of course, a jack and jack stands too or a lift if you're lucky enough to have access to one. You'll start by removing the shift boot and the retainers so you can remove the shifter. The shifter will just come up once the shift knob is out of the way. There are two screws under the boot that you'll need to remove. Then you can remove the center trim by prying on all four corners. The shifter dust cover will come off next. Then you'll move under the car. You'll need to drop the cross-member. Remove the 2 18 millimeter bolts and put the bolts back in a few threads, loosen the 2 other bolts. You'll need this space here to drop the trans a little bit. Next you'll remove the shift linkage nut and pull the linkage out of the shifter and leave it off to the side. Pull the shifter front support bolt and the rear support nuts. Remove the bracket and the clip, and then you'll be ready to pull the stock shifter out through the inside of the car. You'll swap the stock shifter for the Barton shifter and set the Barton into place. Install the linkage in the new shifter, install the new rear bracket, reinstall the front support bolt, and tighten everything down. The dust bolt will go back into place and then you'll be ready to install your handle. Once the handle is installed, you're gonna install the center trim, the shift boot, and the shift knob. That's gonna wrap things up for the Barton Short Throw Shifter for the '05 to '10 GT. And you check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.
