Justin: The BBK Twin 62-millimeter Throttle Body here will be for the '05 to '10 GT owners out there who are looking for every last bit of power out of your naturally aspirated or boosted 4.6-liter V8. Now materials for the no-tune required CARB-certified part will be that 356 grade aluminum for the body along with upgraded internals all for right around that low $400 price point.Installation is gonna be pretty straightforward for most owners so let's call it a soft two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and maybe an hour or two to get everything in place as we'll show you later in the video. So throttle body upgrades like this continue to be a popular choice for both car and truck owners alike because they're an easy way to add a little bit more top end power along with a little bit more throttle response but without the need for any tuning or additional modifications. Now, if you didn't know, the factory three valve GT throttle body comes in at a twin 55-millimeter diameter while the BBK is gonna step that up 7 millimeters to a twin 62-millimeter opening, and that is gonna result in a pretty substantial increase in airflow capability. Now, with that being said though, guys, I want GT owners to be realistic here when we're talking about gains. Now, in fact, I'd say best case scenario for most owners, most naturally aspirated owners looking at the high single-digit, low double-digit gain, maybe a little bit more with a set of cams, intake, manifold, and so forth. Now forced induction owners on the other hand, well, you might see some slightly bigger numbers at the end of the day, but regardless, both naturally aspirated and boosted applications should also see a little bit more throttle response with this in place as well. Now, as far as your construction is concerned here with the BBK, made in the USA, guys. High-quality 356-grade aluminum is gonna be for your body. That is gonna be topped off with nice little engraving here. You got your power plus a 62-millimeter opening along with the BBK logo. Give a subtle nod to guys looking under the hood that this isn't exactly a stock part, right. Now, on top of that, the BBK throttle body does receive OEM Distamp throttle linkages, double-sealed bearings, but will not include any electronics, guys, as you can see here on the side, that will need to be swapped over from your stock unit. Now speaking of that install, guys, we do wanna give you a little bit more detail on swapping the electronics in addition to swapping the throttle body in general. So without further ado, feel free to check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown now.Man: Tools used in this install, 3/8 electric air ratchet, middle size flathead screwdriver, small size flathead screwdriver, T-20 Torx, 3/16 Allen socket, 1/4-inch drive extension, 8 and 10-millimeter sockets, and 1/4-inch drive ratchet. Hey, guys, I'm gonna show you how to install our twin 62-millimeter throttle body on our '06 Mustang. Let's get started.First thing we're gonna do with our uninstall is we're going to remove our inlet air hose here, a couple of wire connectors, two or four 8-millimeter bolts, and then we'll remove our throttle body. So let's jump into it. First thing we're gonna do is remove our two electrical connections and our PCV. So we're gonna start over here, pull our red clip, push into our grommet there, move that out of the way. Pull our red clip here, have that one off, and then our PCV, just gonna get underneath it and pop it off that way, move that out of the way. Next, we're gonna remove our two hose clamps and remove our air intake tube. So I'm gonna take my flathead screwdriver, loosen both clamps and remove the tube.Next, we're going to take our 8-millimeter on our 1/4-inch drive electric ratchet, remove these two here, then we'll switch over to our 10-millimeter and remove the two bottom nuts that are holding our throttle body. Going to switch to my 10-millimeter. Once I have those off, we'll be able to slide our throttle body right on.So now that we got our throttle body off, we're going to install our new BBK throttle body. Now on this throttle body, we're going to have to take our TPS and our motor control and install them onto our new throttle body. So we're going to take our T-20 Torx, remove them, and I'm gonna show you how to install them on our new throttle body. So now I'm gonna take my 1/4-inch drive ratchet, my T-20 Torx. I'm gonna remove these two bolts right here holding on the TPS, and then I'm gonna take a bunch off on this side and remove our electric motor. So I'm gonna take my ratchet with my T-20 Torx, remove these. Now that I have them out, a little wiggle. TPS, we'll set that aside. Next, we'll go onto this side and remove these Torx over here. Now that I got them removed, we'll be able to pull out our motor, install the reinstall onto our new 62-millimeter throttle. So now that we've removed our TPS sensor and our motor control, we're going to install that on our new BBK throttle body. First thing we're gonna do is install our TPS sensor, and we're gonna put that in place and input our two bolts in. So now we're gonna install our TPS on the side of our throttle body. You'll notice there's a little clip right here sticking out. That's gonna line up with this little hole that's casted into the throttle body. I'm gonna take the throttle positioning sensor and just put it in place and you'll feel it fall down and line up. Once you get it in place, we'll start our two Torx screws. I'm gonna take my T-20 Torx and I'm gonna run them in with a 1/4-inch drive ratchet. It is plastic, so I'm gonna be real careful when I tighten it up, you don't want to damage it with the electric gun.And now that we have that snug, we're gonna go over and install our motor onto the side of our throttle body. So next we're gonna reinstall our motor onto the side of our throttle body. We're gonna reuse this spring and plastic gear here. It's gonna fall in place, there's a little hole inside the throttle body or in the side of this arm here. So we're just gonna stick it in place like that, get it to set, and what we did here was we ended up popping out this clip. Kind of sits in here, it's marked. You'll see it has a blue line on it right there. Kind of sits in there like that and what you're gonna do with that is just push it out. You can push it out with your thumb like that. It's gonna leave this open so that when we slide this in place, this gear will come up inside here and we're gonna clock it in here and lock it into place and that's gonna give the spring the tension to make it flat. So what I'm gonna do is now that I have this in, I have the clip here inside that hole there, you'll see the groove and the hole inside there. I'm gonna take this and slide this back into place and it'll fall just into place just like that.I'll start some of my screws, run them in with my 1/4-inch drive and my Torx. Once I have them all run down, you're gonna just snug them up. And now that we have those done, we're gonna go inside and clock this gear around. It's got a couple of different little notches in it. They're different sizes and the plastic gear inside is notched accordingly to these. We'll spin it around until it lines up and then locks into place, and once it locks into place, you'll see that we'll have spring tension then on our blades. So I'm gonna take my flat blade screwdriver and I'm gonna get in here and push down a little bit, and we're going to spin this just like that. Spin it around until you'll see it lines up just like that, it came right out and the bigger tab fell into place here, the smaller tab fell into place there. And once you have that into place, then I'm gonna take my cap, and if you notice that this cap had a mark on it, right there it is, lines up with the green mark that it had right there, push this into place. Now, once we have that into place and we have that lock back in, you should notice that you have tension on your blades, and they close and go back to where they were, and that's what you want. If you don't have that, then you don't have this gear right. So you wanna make sure that you have that so that you do have that so it's shutting. So now at this point, we're ready to reinstall our throttle body onto our car. So now that we got our motor control on and our TPS sensor, we're gonna install our new throttle body onto our vehicle. We're gonna be using our Allen head bolts that are supplied in the kit, plus the two 10 millimeters, so let's put it on. So now I took a towel, wiped off our O-ring here for our gasket, made sure it was clean. We're gonna install our throttle body. I'm gonna install the two Allen head bolts first up top, and then two 10-millimeter nuts, and then I'm gonna tighten them up with my 3/16 Allen wrench on my 1/4-inch socket and my 10-millimeter socket on my 1/4-inch drive. Now we install our 10-millimeter nuts on the bottom. Now I'm gonna take my 1/4-inch drive with my 3/16 Allen socket, tighten these up, then we just wanna snug them. It is plastic so you don't want to go too tight or you will crack it. And I'll take my 10-millimeter socket. Next, we're gonna plug in our TPS and our electric motor control. So we'll plug our TPS in plus our clip and then plug in our motor control, push in our clip. So now we'll reinstall our air intake tube, tighten up our two hose clamps and install our PCV. So once I get it in place, this is a bigger throttle body so it is going to be a little bit tougher to get this to slide on. Once you get it in place, you wanna hook up the PCV, tighten your two hose clamps. That wraps up this review and install of our BBK Twin 62-millimeter Throttle Body for '05 to '10 GTs. Thanks for watching and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
