Hey, guys. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and installing the Borla ATAK cat-back exhaust for 2005 to 2009 GT Mustangs. You're gonna wanna be checking this cat-back out if you're looking for a high-quality cat-back that's going to deliver a ton of volume and a ton of sound. This cat-back comes with Borla's ATAK mufflers in it, and they're the loudest mufflers in the Borla lineup. On a scale of one to five, with one being a quiet upgrade and five being a very loud upgrade, I'm gonna call these a solid four out of five. They can definitely be a five out of five under wide open throttle. The rest of the cat-back is two and a half inch mandrel bent stainless steel, which is gonna be a great option for you guys out there that are looking for corrosion resistance. The cat-back costs about $770. I'm gonna call it a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter when it comes to the install. We'll go ahead and show you how to get it on your car now.For this install, we used a 3/8 drive cordless impact gun. You can always just use a 3/8 ratchet if you want to, a 13-millimeter socket, a 15-millimeter socket, a flathead screwdriver, a rubber mallet is always nice to have just in case, and if you need to cut your exhaust off like we needed to, you'll need a Sawzall with a fresh blade on it.All right, guys, to start your stock exhaust removal, what you'll need is a 15-millimeter socket. We're gonna go ahead and try to loosen these clamps here. Now, if your clamps or your exhaust look anything like the one on this car here, you're gonna want to make sure you have a lot of WD-40 or PB B'laster. It's really gonna help you get these clamps undone. All right, guys, if your clamps are stuck like ours are, all I'm doing is taking a flathead screwdriver and I'm prying the clamp open here. All right. And we are gonna do the same thing on the other side over here. So I'm just wedging the flathead screwdriver in between the clamp here and working it loose. All right, guys, now we're gonna go back here and undo this clamp right here right at the muffler. All right. And then, of course, we'll do the same thing on the other side. All right. And we're gonna do the same thing with a flathead screwdriver on these clamps back here just to make sure they're releasing. All right, guys, at this point, I'm gonna take my mallet. I'm gonna bump both of these clamps forward just so I can try to disconnect this connection right here. All right, guys, so at this point, our exhaust is not disconnecting right here at the over axle pipes to our axle-back. So what I've done is I've tightened up the clamps by the H-pipe up there and I've got the Sawzall. And I'm just going to cut the connection myself. So, if you're going to do that, make sure you guys have safety glasses, a fresh Sawzall blade, and you're cutting in a place where you're not gonna be cutting through anything or doing damage to any other parts. So we're gonna go ahead and just cut through right here right by our axle-back.All right, guys, now what we're gonna do is we're gonna undo these two 13-millimeter bolts that are holding our exhaust hanger in place just because you guys can see the way that this hanger is right here. It's gonna be really hard to get this out. So we're just gonna undo these bolts right here. All right, guys, we're gonna do the same thing on the other side being very careful of our fuel lines here. That's why we're cutting away from them. All right, guys, so we're gonna do the same thing on this side as well with removing this hanger. All right, guys, from here, what we're gonna do is loosen our clamps back up. And I'm gonna take my mallet, knock the clamps backwards, and then pull down the over axle pipes. All right, guys, with the factory cat-back out of the way, the first thing we're gonna do is grab the straight pipes that Borla gives us. We'll transfer our clamps over. We're gonna go ahead and get these installed on the H-pipe. We're gonna leave all the clamps loose for now until we have everything lined up and then we'll go ahead and tighten them down as we need to. So I'm just sliding my clamp over the pipe. I'm gonna ahead and get this installed on the H-pipe.All right. Now we're gonna get our over axle pipe installed. Just make sure you have a clamp here before you install your over axle pipe. I'm gonna go ahead, loop this over the axle. Now, I'll make the connection here. Like I said, we are gonna leave everything loose for now. We're gonna go ahead and do the other side. All right. So once again, we'll go up and over the axle. All right, guys, so now at this point, we're ready for the axle-back. I have transferred over our factory hanger from our factory axle-back. I'm gonna go ahead and get this in place. Then what I'm gonna do is get my hanger in place. I'm just gonna get my two bolts started. All right. And we're gonna go ahead tighten these down. All right. Now we're gonna go ahead and tighten down our other clamps on this side. What I'm doing right now is I'm taking a peek at the tip and making sure that I'm lined up correctly. All right, guys, so we're gonna do the exact same thing on the other side. One thing to note real quick, if your car is equipped with the hangers that go near the tip right here, you can go ahead and swap over those hangers as well. If not, you can go ahead and install this without it. It will be just fine or you can also purchase the additional hangers and put them right here if you want to. We're gonna go ahead and install this without those hangers. So we're gonna slide this onto our over axle pipe. We do have a clamp on our axle-back already. All right. So now we're gonna go through and tighten our clamps on this side. All right, guys, that's gonna wrap up this review and install. Keep in mind you can always check this cat-back out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.
