These Door Insert Covers are available for the early S197 owner who might be looking to pick up just a little bit of luxury for their interior, while also covering up any sagging or ripped door covers that came on the car from the factory. The install for these will be a little bit labor-intensive. It might require some just a little bit of know-how, so I'm giving it a two out three wrenches on our difficulty meter, which we'll talk a little bit more about later on. Obviously, around 10 years of use on your Mustang will pretty much wear out a couple of things on your body especially when it comes to the interior of your car, and the door panels are some of the first things to go. So this is a very straightforward restoration peace while also giving you just a little bit of upgrade when it comes to luxury since it is a black Italian leather. There are some other colors available, so you want to make sure you're picking up the one that matches your current interior, or if you're looking to switch things up, that's obviously your personal preference. As far as price is concerned, you can pick this setup for just around $150 mark. My personal opinion, a very affordable price tag considering Ford replacement parts are typically a pretty higher tag, and you're also upgrading to a nicer weather material here that will have a longer-lasting durability and a better feel to it over all. So, a lot of bang for your buck in this kit. The installation again is a very labor-intensive job here. You wanna have the better part of the toolbox available with a couple of hours worth of time on your hands. You'll have to take apart the door panels of course. You have to trim a little bit of the leather, so you want to have your cutting tools available. And the adhesive part, you wanna make sure you're getting properly because, well, gluing it on, you only have one shot at it. With that said, it is gonna be a two out of three wrenches on a difficulty meter here. You wanna have a couple hours on hand as well as the toolbox. If you're not too confident taking care of this one yourself, no shame handing it over to a professional to get done properly. The first thing that you need to do is pop off the corner cover by the A pillar. There's a bolt in the pocket on the door as well as behind the door handle inside the car. There are bolts around the edges of the door insert, then you can pop off the entire inner door panel. There's a few wiring connections you'll need to unplug before completely removing it from the vehicle. Pull off the stock door, insert cover, and use a flat head screwdriver or similar to pry off the adhesive backing that sticks to the door panel, and rip all the nasty stuff off. Pliers and heat gun should definitely help here as well. Tape all around the insert trim area, and use a sander to clean off the remaining adhesive on the area. Spring on the new adhesive on the door panel and the back of the insert cover, then apply it to the door panel. Use an exacto knife or similar to cut off the excess and tuck in everything else using a flat head screwdriver. Reconnect the wiring as needed and pop the door panel back on replacing all the bolts and trim pieces, then you're good to go. And that's just about does it for me, so if you're the owner of a 2005 to 2009 Mustang, you might wanna check out the door cover inserts in black which are available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
