Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m here with a very valuable upgrade for the stock or aftermarket clutch in your 2005 or newer Mustang, thanks to Exedy’s Hydralic throwout bearing and slave cylinder, fitting all manual GTs and V6s. So here’s what you need to know in a nutshell, the hydraulic throwout bearing is responsible for pushing down the little fingers here on the pressure plate, which in turn disengages the clutch and allows you to shift gears. If you’re running a stock clutch the OE cylinder should be able to do its job just fine with maybe a few exceptions due to wear and tear, however as soon as you introduce an aftermarket clutch and pressure plate with a higher pressing force, the reliability of that OE slave cylinder may come into question, due to the extra force required to operate that stronger pressure plate. This can lead to erratic gear engagement and clutch operation, and eventual failure of the slave cylinder altogether, which means you’re going to have to drop the trans to fix the issue. This hydraulic slave cylinder from Exedy has been designed to work with those stronger pressure plates, and can be used with any aftermarket or stock clutch without issue. It is just one of those peace of mind mods that is worth picking up whenever you’re installing a new aftermarket clutch, heck, I would even install this with a stock clutch just for the added strength and reliability factor. Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking the OE Ford part, but let’s be honest here, Exedy eats, sleeps and breathes clutches, it’s all they know, and it shows in the quality of their parts, Exedy recommends this product be used with all of their clutches, just to ensure reliable operation and proper engagement over time. In fact, Exedy includes this same part to be used in their Mach 600 clutch kit, just for reasons I mentioned earlier, to operate the extremely burly pressure plate included with that particular clutch. As far as install is concerned, this is ideally something you should have replaced whenever you’re replacing your clutch because the trans has to come out, because of this we’d recommend having this job tackled by your local shop, on the other hand if you are the do it yourself type, just leave yourself about 4 hours from start to finish. So if you’re looking for a little added insurance whenever you’re installing your new clutch, then be sure to check out Exedy’s hydraulic bearing and slave cylinder, right here at AmericanMuscle.com
