Justin: What's up, everybody? I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm joined by Mr. RTR himself, Vaughn Gittin Jr. And together, we're going to be walking you through this RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Rear Panhard Bar, available for all '05 to '14 Mustangs. Now, Vaughn, lay out to everybody at home what the purpose of a panhard bar does.Vaughn: Yeah, sure. Basically, the panhard locates the rear axle laterally in the car. It's what controls it from going side to side. You have your upper link and your two lowers that hold the axle to the car. Well, this controls it from going left to right.Justin: Cool. Now, what was the objective when designing the RTR Adjustable Panhard Bar?Vaughn: Yeah, we wanted to supply a panhard bar to our customers that would allow them to make sure the axle stayed centered under the car. When you lower the car, the axle actually shifts, so this allows you to bring it back to center. It's significantly strong, and we also added some pretty impressive bushing technology. First of all, the casing of our bushing is a forged piece that encapsulates our bushing, which is a dual-durometer bushing. One of the durometers is a bit softer to absorb NVH, and so it's not very harsh. And then, on the inside, we have a rigid bushing. It's about as close as you're going to get to having a rod end without the noise or the more harsh ride that it would achieve.Justin: So it's essentially best of both worlds as far as that. And it's non-greasable, right?Vaughn: No maintenance.Justin: No maintenance.Vaughn: Just put it on, and adjust it, and it's good to go. And the thing a lot of people don't know, when the engineers are building their cars from the factory, it's all about NVH. It's all about being built for the masses. A panhard actually significantly helps your handling. When you initially go to turn into a turn, all that energy goes to the rear. So the more that you have a bushing flex on the panhard, the more your axle moves before the car actually turns. So this significantly increases steering response.Justin: Very cool. Now, installation, guys, with this could not be easier. As you can see, there's really only two connection points here so a simple two-bolt install. It'll probably take you an hour if that. But the big thing here with this is, Vaughn, is just getting the alignment set up correctly. And obviously the best idea would be to take it to an alignment shop, get your thrust angle checked, make sure the rear axle is centered.Vaughn: Yep.Justin: But we actually showed you in a video that I did a little while back, a backyard mechanic. Basically make a crude little plumb bob setup, hang two washers from a string, make your measurements between each side of the wheel there, and then adjust it accordingly.Vaughn: Yeah, very easy. And this can be done on the car. It's just simple. Loosen these two nuts, turn the adjuster, and it'll move the axle left to right and get it dialed exactly where you want it.Justin: There you go. Lengthen or shorten it on the car, so it makes things super adjustable, super easy to use, and definitely a piece you'll want to look for for your lowered car.All right. So there you have it, guys. If you're looking to center your rear axle underneath your lowered Mustang, in addition to increasing your handling performance, well, then you have to check out the RTR Tactical Performance Adjustable Panhard Bar for your S197 Mustang here at AmericanMuscle.com.
Features, Description, Reviews, Q&A, Specs & Installation
Superior Construction. Manufactured from tubular DOM steel tubing for superior strength and rigidity, this RTR Tactical Performance Panhard Bar is completed in a durable gray powder coat finish for impressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.
Forged Rod Ends. The forged rod ends included with this adjustable RTR Tactical Performance Panhard Bar are specifically engineered to house the patented MAX-C bushings which allows for maximum articulation, strength and durability of the bushing material.
Max-C Bushings. MAX-C (Multi Axial Composite) bushings are made from a dual-durometer synthetic elastomer with a unique non-bonded bushing design that allows the inner reinforcement sleeve to redistribute loads throughout the cushion and bearing allowing for freedom of articulation while still reducing deflection for improved handling predictability.
Grease Free Technology. The included Max-C bushings feature "Grease Free Technology" this is a process where a PTFE inner lining is bonded to the inner bore of the bushing during the casting process. The PTFE lining reduces friction, minimizes wear and eliminates noise. Because of this there is no need to lubricate the bushings during installation making these bushings grease and maintenance free.
Application. This RTR Tactical Performance On-car Adjustable Panhard Rod is designed to fit 2005 to 2014 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, BOSS and Shelby GT500 models and is the perfect companion to a RTR Adjustable Panhard Bar Support Brace.
