Hey, guys. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and installing a shift boot retainer for 2011 to 2014 Mustangs, except for the GT500. So you're gonna want to be checking this shift boot retainer out if you guys just bought an aftermarket shift knob that didn't come with a new retainer, or you're just looking to replace your current shift boot retainer. So the shift boot retainer basically holds up your shift boot and makes a nice, clean, finished connection between the shift boot and an aftermarket shift knob. This one's made of billet aluminum. It's anodized black, and it costs about $20. It's very easy to get installed. I'll call it a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and we'll show you how we got it on the car now. All right, guys. To start the install of your new shift boot retainer, you're gonna have to remove your stock shift knob, and you're obviously gonna be pairing this with an aftermarket shift knob. So in order to do that, we're gonna go ahead and pull up on the plastic bezel here that's holding our shift knob in place. From here, we're gonna unscrew our factory shift knob. There we go. So from here, we're gonna separate our factory shift knob from the shift boot, and this just pulls out. We'll just work the shift knob out. We are going to grab our new shift boot retainer, and it actually is gonna sit like this. And we're gonna work this into our shift boot. Once this is popped into place, you can go ahead and get your shift boot back on the car. This'll work with any 12 by 1.25 shifter handle and shift knob, so it really leaves you with a wide variety. So I'm actually gonna leave this like this for now, because we will need to make some adjustment here because the bottom of our shift boot retainer needs to meet the bottom of the shift knob. So I'm gonna leave everything loose for now, kinda sitting here like this. I'm gonna grab the shift knob and go ahead and get that in place too. I'm gonna leave it a little off-center, because what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna raise the retainer up to meet the bottom of the shift knob. So we're gonna keep going up with our retainer until it makes contact with the bottom of our shift knob. There we go. And then from here, we're just going to finish tightening up the shift knob to get it straight. All right. And then once it's straight, we will get our bezel back down into place. And if your shift boot rotated, you guys can always move it on your retainer here to make it straight and look nice. All right, guys. That's gonna wrap up this review and install. Keep in mind that you can always check this retainer out more online. I'm Stephanie. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
