Hey, guys, it's Joe from AmericanMuscle. And today, we're gonna be taking a closer look at the SR Performance 62-millimeter twin throttle body, fitting all '05 to '10 3-valve GTs. Now, this is gonna be the perfect option for you if you're looking for a solid supporting mod that's gonna add a little bit of horsepower by freeing up the airflow just a little bit at a reasonable price. So, what do we have going on here from SR Performance? Well, first thing's first, bigger diameter bore on the throttle body, twin 62s going off from twin 65s, that's going to allow you to push a bigger volume of air through the throttle body, and in theory, eliminating a little bit of the restriction that the throttle body may hold. This guy is made out of 356 aluminum, just like the factory stuff. Speaking about factory stuff, you can also see that this lip here is nailed down to the factory size, and that's going to allow you to retain your factory intake. If you have any cold air intakes and you have them attached to the factory throttle body, those, in theory, should also work.To run this, there's no tune required, again, just drops right in place of that factory throttle body. One thing I do wanna note, as you can see, there are no electronics on the sides here, we will be transferring those over from our old throttle body. So, if for any reason those don't work on your factory throttle body, you will need to pick those up in order to run something like this. We're gonna show you how to transfer those over in just a second. So, now let's talk a little bit about horsepower numbers. I'd call this right here a supporting mod. If this is the only thing you have done your 3-valve, you're not gonna be taking down any Z06s, Hellcats, or Vipers, that is for sure. But if you have a bolt-up 3-valve that's just missing a throttle body, SR claims 15 to 20 horsepower, 20 to 25 torque at the rear wheels. If you're going for that bolt-up build, you're looking for the last piece to put it over the edge, you think you're throttle body might be a restriction on airflow, this is gonna be a great budget-friendly option. However, as a first mod, you probably won't feel any gains from a good old butt dyno.Pricing for this throttle body, gonna drop in right around 300 bucks, definitely more toward the budget-friendly side. Again, if you have that bolt-on 3-valve, this is all you're missing, this is a no-brainer as far as the next mod goes. Install is gonna be relatively simple, like I said earlier, no tunes. We are gonna be swapping over the electronics, again, we'll show you how that works in just a second. Easy two out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, should take you, at most, about two to three hours in the driveway with nothing but a basic set of hand tools. So, without any further ado, let me show you what tools you'll need and how it's done.Tools we used for this install are going to include an impact, few extensions, ratchets, T20 Torx bit, 5-millimeter Allen key, 8 and 10-millimeter sockets, as well as a flat-head screwdriver. Now, we can actually start work on our throttle body. First thing's first though, we're gonna continue by disconnecting the electronics, you need to slide these red clips back, and push down on the release tab, and they should pull right off. Now, we can actually get this off of our intake. And what we're gonna do is use an 8-millimeter socket to remove these two guys up here. You wanna be gentle with these as it looks like they're just threaded into plastic, and you really don't wanna mess up those threads. So, we're gonna go old school with the ratchet. We're just gonna switch over to the 10-millimeter socket, and we're gonna put this small extension to use, and we're gonna get the bottom two here. That's a nut, but you should be able to get to it just fine. Have the other one off. Now, we're just gonna pull the throttle body away. And there's actually a nice insert here, so you don't really have to worry about the threads, you could use an impact to get those out if you wanted to.So, now that we have our factory throttle body off of our 3-valve, I figure now would be the perfect time to sit it down next to our SR throttle body, point out some key differences between the two, and basically, what is gonna make this a little bit better than that old factory throttle body. Now, obviously, with the two next to each other, really really small differences, they're both made out of aluminum, they both feature that twin butterfly valve design, they're both gonna fit that factory intake and filter, you can see this milled edge here is designed to allow that to happen. The only, and really, the biggest difference between these two, it's gonna be the diameter of each of the bores, 55 for a stock one, 62 with our SR Performance. And having a larger diameter is going to allow you to push, exponentially, more air through. So, if you have a restriction in your throttle body, the 62-millimeter SR Performance twin throttle body will definitely help you out.So, without any further ado, couple things I wanna go over here. If this seal came off with your throttle body, we're gonna go put that back into the intake manifold when we go back to the Mustang. And the new SR doesn't come with any electronics, so we're gonna use a Torx bit to transfer over, basically, this guy right here, and this guy on the other side to allow this thing to open and close when we press down on the throttle. So, we're just gonna take a T20, I have mine on a ratchet just to speed things up a little bit. We're gonna loosen up a bunch of these T20 bolts here just to get the electronics off. All right. So, that's one. Surprisingly, little bit tough to turn, you can see there's a little bit of Loctite on there, and these threads are really fine. We're just gonna slowly do that same thing for the rest of the T20s on here as well. Now, I'm gonna bring out the air ratchet just to speed things up just a little bit more. That is gonna pop off just like so. And there's a little bit of a seal in here as well just like the other one I pointed out. If that pops out at all for you, just push it right back into it's cutout so it makes a nice seal or our new throttle body. So, now, in order to transfer this over, we're gonna need that spring. It has that little catch there on the end, this is just gonna go on this gear right here, and that catch is gonna sit in a hole on this piece of the gearing in the throttle body. Now, on top of that, we do have two teeth, you can see the larger one on this side, smaller one on this side, those need to mate up with the cutouts in this portion. So, as we put this on, we're gonna make sure those are seated, and then we're gonna twist this in place so we can lock it in with those T20 bolts from earlier. And we're gonna do the same thing over on the other side for our position sensor. And we're just gonna put that into the same exact spot on our new throttle body. After that, we have everything we need transferred over, so we're just gonna grab our throttle body and head back to the Mustang, we're gonna need a few more things as well. These two bolts right here, they take a 5-millimeter Allen key, I have that right here, we're gonna take that with us as well, as well as that seal that came off with our old throttle body, we're just gonna plop that back in place, and then we'll be good to install this. I'm gonna start off with our seal, just gonna work that in. And after that, gonna make sure everything is out of the way. We're just gonna come in and get our new throttle body seated on those bottom studs, and then we're gonna start that new hardware on top, and then tighten all this up. For the bottom, we're just going to reinstall those two 10-millimeter nuts we removed from earlier. Now, we have our new throttle body pretty much installed, the rest of this is just gonna be the rebuild portion, we're just gonna plug in our electronics, and then we can put the intake back on. Now that we have this in place, we're just gonna tighten back down our clamp, you could use the 8-millimeter socket or a flat-head, and then we could reinstall our breather hose, that's just gonna click right into place. Now we're just gonna lock back down the airbox with the 10-mill, and we're gonna call this one a wrap after we plug in the MAF sensor.Guys, that is gonna do it for me, it's also gonna do it for the SR Performance 62-millimeter twin throttle body, fitting all '05 to '10 3-valve GTs. Thank you guys so much for watching, subscribe for more like this one. Keep it right here at AmericanMuscle for all things Mustang.
