Hey, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my review of the SR Performance Aluminum Radiator, available for your manual '79 to '93 five liter Mustang. This rad is probably going to be for almost any car, from a stock or lightly modded daily that may have a leak, to cars that may see some track time and have a higher demand for cooling. So this rad is an upgrade over the factory radiator, for sure, and for a few reasons. I'll start with the fact that it has a two-row core. The two-row core means that it's going to be able to dissipate heat faster and increase cooling efficiency. Next is the welding on this guy. You're looking at hand welds here on the tank and on the fittings, and SR does that to ensure that the rad will be leak-proof. And who doesn't like looking at some nice aluminum welds? Speaking of that, this rad is aluminum and it's actually pretty lightweight, so you can shave off some pounds as you dissipate heat faster. Another thing I really like about this radiator is that it'll work with either your factory fan or an after-market one, if you're looking to upgrade. And even though this rad has that bigger two-row core, which is about two inches thick, it's still a direct fit product, meaning that no alterations are required to install it. For the install, you're probably looking at about two hours since you will have to drain and remove your old rad first, and then drop this new one in. I'll say that it's a two out of three wrenches on the scale, but just because of the drain and refill, and burping process that you may have to go through. And it's not difficult, it's more of a pain than anything else. You'll need to make sure that you have fresh coolant to fill up with and, of course, a nice catch-can to drain into. Lastly, the price. SR Performance is coming in with the lowest price option for your manual five liter out there at just under the $200 mark. And even though this is the most budget friendly, I don't think that SR skimped on the quality here. It would be nice to see a magnetic drain plug here, but you can pick that up on your own, and the functionality is there with this product. And you can easily compare performance of this rad to other more expensive options out there and not be disappointed. If your rad is damaged or leaking, or you just need to upgrade, either way this guy would work for you. I'm Stephanie, and we'll see you next time, right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
